Message to the Family: I remember seeing Dan in elementary and middle school and I got the privilege of riding the bus with him for high school.  The first time I talked to Dan was in elementary school when both of our mothers were at the PTO meeting.  I only started talking to Dan this year when it looked like he needed help on the bus.  He was really pale and dehydrated and I gave him a water bottle.  He was so thankful for that and even wrote about it in my yearbook the day before he passed and this was the last time I saw him.  After this day in September, we sat across from each other on the bus, him in the two seater and me in the three and his legs across the aisle on my seat.  We talked about life: the first time he went to Marshalls, hockey, and his love for his girlfriend to name a few.  When I started driving more I gave Dan rides to school.  The day before him and his girlfriend's anniversary he texted me asking for a ride to school so he could get there before her and surprise her.  I am honored to have driven him to school and spend every school day morning sitting next to his always smiling face on the bus.  I am blessed to call him one of my true friends.  To your family, thank you for allowing Dan to be a part of my life and for raising him the way you did.  Dan, you are loved by everyone who you have come into contact with because you had such a powerful impact on their life.  We love you Dan and always will.  I know I will see you again some day.  Rest easy 💙

Message to the Family: I did not know Daniel personally, but he played against my son, Spencer Reiber (Cranford High) for the last 3 years. I saw his name receiving accolades each week, along side my son's name. He was a player to watch when we played against Dayton-Brearley and an obvious talent. My heart goes out to his family, friends and teammates during this difficult time. Let me say from the entire Cranford Hockey community, we may "fight" on the ice, but hockey players are like family, and we all grieve the loss of a tremendous talent. RIP Dan! You will be missed.
