Obituary for Frances Agnes Hentze

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances A. Hentze,99, of Roselle Park announce her passing on Sunday, August 12, 2018 with her loving daughters by her side. Visitation will be on Thursday from 8:45am – 9:30am at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, Roselle Park, NJ. Funeral mass will be at Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, at 10am. Cremation will be private. Frances was born in Elizabeth, NJ, to her late parents Frank & Agnes Lapinskis. She graduated from Battin High School in 1936. After graduation, she worked in retail for Woolworth in Elizabeth, NJ. Later she was employed in manufacturing by the Singer Corporation where she met her future husband, John. During WWII, she worked as a “Bakelite Beauty” for Diehl’s in Finderne, NJ. In 1945, she married John and settled in Elizabeth. From there she resided in Roselle Park for over 50 years.
Frances was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of Church of the Assumption and member of the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed her European travels and spending time at her shore house in Manahawkin, NJ. Her many interests included cooking, baking, sewing, cross word puzzles and entertaining her family at holidays. She was a quiet, kind refined lady who always saw the good and potential in others.
She is predeceased by her husband, John and sister Helen. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Smalley (Michael) and Lorraine Hoefling. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Kenneth Hoefling, Mark Smalley, Aimee Hoefling Clifford and Scott Smalley and 8 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frances’s name to the National Shrine of St. Jude, 205 West Monroe St, Chicago, IL 60606.
