Patricia was born on August 16, 1940, in Jersey City, to James and Gertrude Nicholson. She grew up in Ridgefield Park, and after graduating high school, became the first member of her family to attend college. Being passionate about education, she obtained a B.A. in Education from Jersey City State College and began a career as an elementary school teacher at Charles DeWolf School in Old Tappan.

Patricia was married to Gustav on May 9, 1964, sending her life in a new direction. She was blessed to receive four children and dedicated herself to raising them to be just as passionate about education as she was. After moving from Bergenfield to Bayville in 1972, Patricia continued work in the field of education, as head teacher at Jane Addams Day-Care Center in Toms River, in the PTA at H&M Potter Elementary School, and in St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church as a CCD Instructor, Sunday school teacher, and Rainbows program counselor. After sending all four children to college, she looked forward to spending time as a grandmother. Along the way Patricia defeated cancer twice, only to lose the battle the third time. She found peace and left this Earth on August 6, 2019, at the age of 78, surrounded by family.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Gustav, her four children, Kevin Schreier and wife Susan, Mary Jacobs and husband Willie, Ellen Giles and husband Richard, Kristen Montague and her husband Christopher, four grandchildren Elizabeth Schreier, Claudia Schreier, Braedon Giles, and Lexi Jacobs, and her two brothers, James Nicholson and Robert Nicholson.

Services will be held at Mastapeter Funeral Home in Bayville, NJ on Sunday, August 11 at 1-4PM, and St. Barnabas Church in Bayville on Monday, August 12 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Patricia’s name to St. Barnabas Religious Education Fund, 33 Woodland Rd, Bayville, NJ 08721.
