Obituary for Anna Bavosa

Anna Bavosa, born March 26, 1918, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2023. She was timeless, a beautiful and elegant woman who was kind and gentle. She was treasured by her many friends and family and always took time to do things for others and was a devoted mother and loyal friend. There are so many things we will remember about Anna: her spirituality and faith, the importance of her daily exercise routine, her generosity and humbleness, her love of opera and her amazing home cooking. While ill for some time, her mind and spirit were still there at the end, but her body could no longer sustain her. When Anna left this world, we lost a loving, caring, thoughtful human being.

Anna immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager and nothing held her back, not even the enormous ocean liner she embarked upon. She learned a new language, got a driver’s license and raised four children. Somehow she was able to balance the wonderful traditions of her homeland with the culture of American life.
Anna was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank Bavosa, and son, Frank Paul, and will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Rosemary Ritter, Adrienne Bavosa and Grace Lonergan; her five grandchildren, Gina Wojdyla, Audrey Fischer, Krista Dilley, John Lonergan and Kasey Lonergan; her two great grandsons, Dominick Wojdyla and Nico Wojdyla.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, Roselle Park. Funeral mass will be on Saturday at 10am at Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, with interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Center for Hope whose expertise and compassion guided Anna through her final journey.
