Obituary for Anthony P Zito

Anthony P. Zito 80, (Tony) passed away suddenly on Wednesday October 18th 2023. Anthony was born and raised in Newark NJ before moving to Mountainside with the love of his life, his wife Stella (nee Schillizzi) and daughter in the early eighties. Anthony was a devoted and loving husband for 59 years. Together they built a beautiful life, and were honored to call one another husband and wife.
If you knew Anthony, he always had a sense of humor, a joke , a story to tell or something to share that emanated warmth. He was good hearted, loyal, genuine, never complained he was always positive. To his family he was known as the "human roadmap" and could tell you how to get anywhere in NJ and beyond by landmarks, cross streets and always could add a good "hot dog joint" to stop at.
Anthony was a man of many talents and knew a little bit about everything. In his younger years he was a butcher and a proud owner of a fishing and firearms store. He also dabbled in real estate for several years. However his lifelong career was as an electrical contractor for his self owned commercial company. Anthony was a proud member of IBEW for 63 years. Anthony's passion was recreational target shooting, hunting and being a member of many gun clubs where he made lifelong friends, he loved to shoot and chat with the guys. He always looked forward to his Wednesday nights with the guys from SPL (Suburban Pistol League). Anthony also had a love for dogs and had many faithful champion show Weimaraners throughout the years. He was a member of the Garden State Weimaraner Club for 50 years where he had served many roles from President, Vice President, Secretary, and was always the man to volunteer for club events.
Anthony was a proud father to his only child, his daughter Christi (Carducci) who he often referred to as the "apple of his eye". He was also an extremely proud and loving caregiver to his two grandchildren Dylan and Hailey. Proud father to his son in law Michael (Carducci). He was extremely family oriented, loved spending time with his family, whether sitting at home just watching sports, Abbott and Costello movies together, having family dinners with lots of stories or simply playing catch with his grandchildren.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents Peter and Anna Zito (nee Ruggeri). Anthony will forever be missed by all who loved him, especially his devastated wife and daughter who lost her "rock" in life.” Rest easy , Daddy, Hun, Pop, you were loved more than you'll ever know. Love you forever!
