Obituary for Aracelis Montalvo

Aracelis Montalvo, 64, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Fl.

Aracelis “Tata” was born on May 22, 1957, to Santos Serrano and Gloria Rodriguez in Cayey, PR. She was a hairstylist for many years and later worked as a driver for Hudson County Transportation and retired after 20 years. She lived most of her life in Jersey City, NJ, before moving to Union, NJ and eventually, making her home in Port Charlotte, Florida, 3 years ago.

Aracelis was loved by many. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed time with her children and family. She loved salsa music, hosting family dinners, thrifting, and above all, she loved God. She took care of everyone around her and prayed fervently for those she loved.

She was predeceased by her mother, Gloria Rodriguez, and her father, Santos Serrano.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Monge and her husband Herminio Monge; her son, Daniel DelToro and his wife Natalie DelToro, and her cherished grandson, Matthew Monge; as well as her sisters; Miriam Serrano, Noemi Mejia, Carmen Rodriguez, Diana Rodriguez, and Gloria Rodriguez and her brothers; Santos Serrano, Edwin Serrano, and Frank Serrano. She is also remembered by extended family members who loved and adored her as she shared a special relationship with each one of them. She will be deeply missed by all. Though her story of love and sacrifice here has come to an end, her soul lives on forever.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 1-4 pm at Mastapeter Funeral Homes, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park, NJ 07204.
