Cynthia “Cindy” Davitt of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2020, surrounded by her loving children. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, James Davitt, Jr., earlier this year.

The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 4 to 7pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, NJ. The Burial will be private.

Cindy was born March 30, 1935, in Mount Carmel, PA to the late Joseph and Martha Mirarchi. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1953. She then began her life journey to New Jersey where she attended nursing school at Martland Medical Center in Newark. It was there that she met her husband, Papa Jim, when she borrowed the keys to his 1953 Chevy Bel Air. It was love at first sight.

Cindy was an OBGYN nurse for over 40 years, starting her career at West Hudson Hospital and then in private practice in Nutley and Belleville.

One of her favorite activities was ‘Words with Friends.’ If you ever played with her – you know she beat you every time. If you happened to win a game, it was simply because she let you win. The NY Times crossword was completed in pen every Sunday. She enjoyed Scrabble, bingo, video poker, NJ scratch-off lottery tickets and trips to the Jersey shore and boardwalk.
Family was first and the joys of her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart.

She is survived by her son, James Davitt III and wife, Sarah, daughter Andrea Freeman and husband, Brian, daughter Alicia Marino and husband, “Marino”.
By the grandchildren who lovingly called her:
Grandma by Michael, Christopher and Billy Davitt
Grammy by Matthew and Nicole Freeman
Yaya Cindy by Nicholas, Ryan and Tyler Marino
And Great-Grandma by the great-grandchildren: Leah, Kylie, Julia, and Logan (Logie-Pierogie)
Cindy is also survived by her loving sister, Patty Dobson and husband, Dick and brother Joseph Mirarchi and wife, Pat. She was predeceased by her loving sister, Rita Montefusco and husband, Vincent.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Autism Speaks.

In closing, after a lifetime of secrecy, Cindy wanted to disclose to the world the name of her favorite child is...

I remember whenever i would see my aunt cindy she would want me to dance or sing for her and would try to persuade me every time. I always said no because i was nervous, but every time i would finally say yes at the end and i will never forget how much that made her smile when she finally got to see me do a dance for her.
