Obituary for Dominick "Fireball" Secatello

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Dominick Secatello, known to many of his friends and family as “Fireball”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, with his family by his side (except for Tom who was outside smoking).



Dominick served as a Sgt. in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1952-1954. After he fought honorably and was wounded at the Battle of Porkchop Hill during the Korean War, he was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged to return to his hometown of Hoboken, NJ. He soon found the love of his life, Ruth Ann. They were married at Saint Ann’s Church and started their family with daughters Joanne and Jacqueline and son Stephen.



Dominick was a highly accomplished golfer, winning many tournaments throughout his life. After decades of hard work, he took immense pride in his family. He will be loved and remembered by his sister Anna, his grandchildren Angelica, Eric, Brittany, Amanda, Stevie, Dominique, Jesse, and Dominick and his great grandchildren Mason Rocco and Maverick Joseph.

Additional medals of honor: Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, Medal of Merit, National Defense Service Medal.


Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park from 4 to 8pm.
Dominick will be honorably laid to rest at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Military Cemetery on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
