Obituary for Edmund G. Holdwright

Edmund Holdwright, 75, of Warren Township and Long Beach Island, New Jersey, passed away peacefully after a brave battle with lung cancer at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ on Saturday, June 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in 1946 in New Haven, CT, the son of Francis and Lucy Ciecko Holdwright, Ed was the middle of three children. He lived in New Haven for fourteen years before his family moved to Hamden, CT in 1960. In 1974 he married Catherine (Cathy) Hannon Holdwright. They moved to North Plainfield, New Jersey where they lived and raised their family before moving to Warren in 2008. He was a sales associate for Hannon Floor Covering before retiring in 2012.

Ed was a lifelong avid New York Giants and Yankees fan and a member of the Warrenbrook Senior Center. He loved listening to music, doing word searches, and being with his family at his favorite place on earth, Long Beach Island.

Edmund is predeceased by his mother and father, Francis and Lucy Ciecko Holdwright. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cathy Holdwright, his son David Holdwright and wife Leigh Ann Holdwright of Mine Hill, New Jersey, daughter Christine Holdwright Zuniga and husband Maurice Zuniga of Green Brook, New Jersey, daughter Erin Holdwright of Somerville, New Jersey, and his five loving grandchildren Jake Holdwright, Lily Holdwright, Ella Holdwright, Kate Holdwright, and Murphy Zuniga. He is also survived by his brother David Holdwright and wife, Barbara of Hamden, Connecticut, his sister Francis Onofrio of Orange, Connecticut, his brother and sister-in-law Frank and Maureen Hannon of Belmar, NJ , his sister-in-law Mary Hannon of Tinton Falls, NJ, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved and adored.

Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:15am. A funeral mass will follow to St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield at 11:30am.

Visitation will be 3 to 7pm on Thursday.
