Fernanda Ferrao, 85, of Newark, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April
6, 2024.
Funeral is from Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park, NJ, on Friday,
April 12, at 8:00 am. A funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic
Church at 9:00 am followed by an Entombment at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum Expansion II,
225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. Visitation is 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April
11.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, she was a factory worker. Married at the age of 18 and had two sons.
They immigrated to Newark, NJ, in 1975 to pursue the American Dream. She worked for Bernan
Food Corporation until her retirement in 1987.
Fernanda was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with
family, taking road trips, beach days and crocheting. She never said no to a function that
involved music and dancing.
Fernanda is pre-deceased by her husband, Antonio. Surviving are her sons, Joe and his wife
Margaret and Mario and his wife Mercedes, and grandchildren Steven, Deborah, David and
Jacob. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend to many.
