Obituary for Fred T Hazlehurst Jr.
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, Fred T. Hazlehurst Jr., loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully after a long illness.
Fred was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and lived in Roselle Park where he married his high school sweetheart of 54 years, Sandra (nee: Nardiello). He was predeceased by his father, Fred Hazlehurst Sr., mother, Charlotte (nee: Parfitt), and his granddaughter Carleigh Parello.
Fred resided in Union County, New Jersey, primarily in Roselle Park where he was a Councilman and Girl’s Softball Coach. He worked as a mechanical engineer for both Lockheed and Hayward Industries.
His passion for design carried through into his hobbies of woodworking and model trains. Fred’s love for life also included family, music, travel, food and sports. He was an avid baseball cap and model train collector.
Fred is survived and will be remembered with love by his wife Sandra, his daughter Carolyn Montoney and husband Lawney, daughter Michelle Parello and husband Thomas, along with his grandchildren Amanda, Jack, Brooke and Summer. Fred’s passing will be deeply felt by his grandchildren who affectionately called him granddad or GD.
He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Banz and husband Ed along with his nieces, nephew and their children.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 3pm-7pm at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park, New Jersey 07204. Funeral Mass will be offered at Church of the Assumption, 113 Coolidge Place, Roselle Park, New Jersey 07204 on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 10am.
