Obituary for Gaetano Perrotti

Gaetano (Tommy) Perrotti Gaetano passed away on Thursday, March 26th 2020 at the age of 86. Born in Vallata Italy, he came to America in 1956. Married in 1961 to his wife Maria Tommasina Cardinale. They lived in Elizabeth before moving to Roselle park in 1973 In 1963

Gaetano purchased a butcher store formerly known as Lembo’s market in Lyndhurst N.J The butcher shop was in a tightly knit neighborhood called “The Hook” His loyal customers were his friends and they came in daily, to hear of local news, gossip or to have a great laugh. Everyone called him Tommy and he was known to be generous, often helping people less fortunate. He raised his family in Roselle Park for 33 years before retiring to Kingwood N.J in 2006.

Gaetano was happiest with the company of his large family. He taught his children how to make home-made wine and the jarring of tomato sauce and peppers from the garden he was proud of. People often marveled as they pass by the garden, with its perfect rows of plants and no weeds. Some even stopped to take pictures of the plants and no weeds. Some even stopped to take pictures of the massive, orange pumpkins. Gaetano also enjoyed playing Bocce with the Italian American heritage club of Hunterdon.
