George Edward Greer, 74 of Roselle Park, passed away peacefully at Overlook Medical Center on
February 12, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. Born on September 19, 1946 in Newark, NJ, Geroge
grew up in Westfield before moving to Roselle Park in 1975. George is predeceased by his parents
Joseph and Mary (Ciszkowski) Greer and siblings Joseph Greer, Marylane Carvalho, and Patricia
DeRick.

George is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda (Danelson) Greer, and his beloved children Kelly
(Greer) Smith & spouse Brian, Colleen (Greer) Fortunato & spouse Alex, and David Greer & spouse
Brenna. George loved being surrounded by his grandchildren: AJ, Colin, Nicholas, Annika, Skyler and
Felix. He also leaves behind his parents-in-law, Richard and Ann Danelson of Roselle Park,
brothers-in-law Carlos Carvalho and Richard DeRick, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he
loved greatly.

After graduating from Westfield High School in 1966, George enlisted and served in the United States
Navy. As a Vietnam Veteran, he was a member of Local American Legion Post 60. George retired from
PSE&G in 2001 after 30 years of service as a substation operator. George was an avid fisherman and
member of the Newark Bait & Fly Fishing Club. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, and taking annual
fishing trips to Sterling Lake, Canada. George kept his sense of humor to the very end as his final request
of the nurse was for a 3 olive, Ketel One martini, on the rocks.
