George F. (“Lonny") Irwin
February 7, 1948 – December 19, 2021

George (“Lonny") Irwin, 73, of Union N.J., passed away peacefully Sunday December 19, 2021 at Overlook Hospital, Summit N.J.

Born in Newark N.J., graduate of West Side High School class of 1965, he moved to Irvington NJ, where he met the love of his life. Lonny moved to Kenilworth NJ, where he was a resident for 42 years before moving to Union NJ 3 years ago.

He was a Hotel manager for 30 years before becoming a Bartender at local hotspots including Ross Bros., Umbertos, and the VFW Post 2230 of Kenilworth. He spent 20 years as a Den Leader of the Kenilworth Boy Scouts Pack 83.

Lonny was an exceptional individual who always thought of others before himself, he was always smiling, upbeat, and loved telling jokes. He spoke kind, loving words to all, always offering up encouragement. He was well known for his Christmas Eve gatherings and his love of decorating for every holiday.

He created fond memories in the minds of all who knew him, was deeply loved by relatives and friends and will be greatly missed.

Lonny was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Florence M.

Surviving are his 3 children; son Robert Irwin and daughter-in-law Laura, son Barry Irwin and, daughter Wendy Campbell and son-in-law Shayne, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Memorial on Saturday January 29, 2022, at 2pm from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2230 (Kenilworth Veterans Center), 33 South 21st Street, Kenilworth NJ.

Arrangements are by the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park NJ.
