James John Matera, Sr., 72, of Kenilworth, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 8:45am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Theresa R. C. Church in Kenilworth at 10am. Interment will follow to St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9om on Sunday.
Born in Union, NJ, James lived in Kenilworth for 45 years.
He was an inside sales manager for Adolph Gottscho, Inc. in Union for 20 years, retiring 7 years ago.
James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was in the 49th Communication Squad doing Strategic Air Command, stationed in Torrejon, Spain.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Theresa’s Church in Kenilworth, NJ and the Air Force Association in Leesburg, VA.
James is predeceased by his dear brother Donald Matera.
Surviving is his beloved wife Barbara Ann (Akalewicz) Matera; two loving children James John, Jr. and Sandy Marie Matera; and a dear brother Stanley Matera.
