Jeanne K. Decker, (nee: Kritzer), 78, of Bay Head, NJ and Vero Beach FL, passed away at home on Saturday, December 7, 2019 after a lengthy illness.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 2 to 7pm in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 4oo Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, NJ. Please be at the funeral home 9:15am. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Theresa R. C. Church, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, NJ with interment to follow at Graceland Memorial Park, 1900 Galloping Hill Road, Kenilworth, NJ.
Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, James and Sylvia (nee: Rinaldo) Kritzer.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 57 years, George Decker; devoted children, George Decker, Jr. and his wife Adrienne, James Decker, and Kim Decker; loving grandchildren, Tyler and Jaime Decker; and caring sister, Marilyn Rasinski Marcin.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Jeanne resided there until they married and moved to Roselle Park, NJ and after retirement settled in Bay Head, NJ.
Jeanne was elected as the Borough of Roselle Park Municipal Tax Collector in 1978 and also served as the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer until her retirement in 2002.
Jeanne additionally provided professional services for numerous municipalities in Union County, NJ during her career. She served as the Director of Revenue and Finance for the Township of Clark; Chief Financial Officer for the Borough of Roselle; Chief Financial Officer for the Township of Springfield; and for more than 30 years served as the Treasurer of School Monies for the Borough of Kenilworth Board of Education. Jeanne was part of the leadership of the Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association of NJ for most of her career. She served as Chair of the Spring Conference for several years; Sergeant at Arms 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Vice President; and President Upon retirement she performed as the Membership Services Director for more than 15 years.
Jeanne volunteered for many years with the Roselle Park Youth Baseball League serving as the Treasurer; Ways & Means Chair and President. She was named as the RPYBL Woman of The Year. She was a former member of the Roselle Park PTA and The Battin High School Reunion Committee.
Jeanne was formerly commended for her contributions to her community and the State by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the State of New Jersey.
