Obituary for John Joseph Alvino

John Joseph Alvino, 80, of Union, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park from 3 to 6pm with a Funeral Service at 4pm. Cremation is private.
Masks are mandatory in the funeral home over the nose and mouth.

Born in Bronx, NY, John moved to Bayonne, NJ in 1985 before settling to Union, NJ in 1991.

John served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He was a New York City Police Officer 2nd grade Detective for 23 years, retiring in 1989. After his retirement he was Director of Security for New England Motor Freight, retiring in 2009.

John was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Union Council 4504. Enjoyed bartending at the Knights of Columbus in Union and The West End Club in Roselle Park. He also enjoyed trips to anything with warm weather and blue water.

John is survived by is beloved wife of 35 years, Linda (nee: Callahan) Alvino, two loving children Katie and John Alvino, three adored nieces Giselle, Giuliana, and Giovanna, dear sister Nancy Lando, two dogs Theodore and Ava who loved him very much and so did the new addition, his grandpuppy Kane.

He was very much loved and will be missed.
