John W. Placko, 75, of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 10am. Please be at the funeral home 9am. Interment will follow to St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Saturday and 1 to 4pm on Sunday.
Born in Winnfield, Louisiana, John was raised in Newark, NJ living in Irvington, Hillside, Garwood for 33 years before settling to Brick 4 years ago.
He was a district manager for International Freight in Newark for 35 years before retiring in 2004.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army as a sergeant SP5(T) during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M14.
He was a member of the Hillside Elks.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years; Anna Marie (nee: Notte) Placko, a dear brother; Martin Luis Placko, Jr., two dear sisters; Rhoda Anecki and Doris Kovach and her husband Stanley. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
