Joseph was born on January 28, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Joseph and Catherine Gregory. He was a proud Army veteran and patriot. Joseph married the love of his life, Rose De Pasquale, on August 26, 1958. They settled in Roselle Park, NJ, where both families had roots, for the next 63 years.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 64 years; his two sons, Joseph and wife, Karen, and Michael and wife, Geraldine; his two daughters, Debra and husband, Thomas and Marie and husband, Timothy; his five grandchildren, Sean, Anthony, Kevin, Nicholas, and Tanner; his three brothers, Frank, Robert, and Richard; his sister Catherine; and predeceased by his sister and partner in crime, Doris.

Joseph was an incredibly hard worker from a very young age. His highest education was in the school of life. He was a self-taught man who figured out how to do anything that needed to be done. He was self-reliant and generously shared his talents with others. Joseph was a jack of all trades beyond his employment as a machinist, then a security officer for Coin Depot Corporation. Perhaps his most beloved occupation came in retirement as a school crossing guard for the Borough of Roselle Park, NJ. He was an icon in town who embraced every interaction with adults and children. Most who knew him joked he was the “mayor” of the town. Joseph served as a leader for Roselle Park Troop 52 of the Boys Scouts and coached Little League baseball. He was a man of great faith who later in life became a member of the Knights of Columbus at the Church of the Assumption. Though life presented him with many obstacles, Joseph always persevered and overcame with humor and love. He had an undying love of life and an unwavering dedication to his family and the Lord. His values never faltered for family, faith, friends, and fun. He is remembered as a man of great honor and dignity.

The family extends its gratitude to all who have given their support and love, now and in memories past, with special acknowledgement to all on his medical team who have provided expertise and compassion along Joseph’s journey.
