Obituary for Joseph N Stiso

Joseph N. Stiso, 64 years old of Worcester, MA peacefully passed away on March 14, 2023. He was born on March 17, 1958, to George and Sophia Stiso in Newark, NJ. At the age of 17, after finishing his junior year at Irvington High Scholl, Joe began college and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Clark University and then went on to get his Master’s degree from Worcester State University. Ironically, March 14th, Pi Day, was a favorite day of the year for Joe and he hosted many Pi Day events. May we all remember him warmly each March 14th for years to come.

He was a great support to many in their academic and career ambitions. He was kind, generous of his time and self, an amazing wordsmith who was creative and transformed half-formed ideas into beautifully crafted works of art. Joe was a dedicated worker with the professional institutions and non-profit charities he was involved with. As hard as he worked professionally, he always took the time to explore places, new cultures, and carve out time to enjoy his great love of the performing arts. We will all miss his intelligence, sharp wit, generosity and above all his big heart.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, George and Sophia Stiso, his sister Adrian Olivieri and her son Ritchie Olivieri. He is survived by his sister Sandra Wood and her husband Butch, and his brother Richard Stiso and his late wife Anita and all of his nieces and nephews.

Joe was committed to the mission of Jeremiah’s Inn in Worcester and served on their board. If you wish to make a donation in the memory of Joseph Stiso, please use the attached link.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 11am at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
