Obituary for Joyce M DeRosa
Joyce M. DeRosa(nee)Murphy
Joyce entered into eternal rest on Saturday March 12, 2022 surrounded by
her loving family after a long battle with cancer. Born in Newark, NJ she resided in
Elizabeth, NJ most of her life. She was 66 years of age. Joyce was an avid sports fan
and a very good athlete. She excelled in basketball at St. Mary of the Assumption
High School where she graduated in 1973. She enjoyed her family immensely, along
with fishing, tennis, art, music, photography, and trips to Manasquan Beach and Cape
May. Joyce had a vibrant personality that shined a light on everyone she encountered.
She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, Aunt, friend and a new grandmother and touched
the hearts of so many with her jolly sense of humor. She will be greatly missed and will forever
live in our hearts.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents Frances and Dorothy Murphy and brother Christopher. Joyce is survived by her loving husband Anthony (Chuck) of 38 years, sons
Anthony (Milan) and Nicholas, and grandson Anthony. She is also survived by siblings
Francis Murphy, Denise Veguez (Armando), Colleen Cetrulo (Raymond), Nora Murphy
(Barbara), and Maureen Patti (John); also by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-7pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, Roselle Park. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday at 10am at St Genevieve RC Church, Elizabeth with burial to follow.
