Karl J. Kielbasa, 64, of Barnegat, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Rahway on October 20, 2020. A viewing will be held at Mastapeter Funeral Home in Roselle Park on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 3-7PM.
Karl was born and raised in Roselle Park, but spent many years working in Short Hills before returning to work for the Roselle Park Department of Public Works. He later retired to Barnegat with his wife Darla.
Karl loved the Jersey Shore and spent his younger years vacationing with his family at their shore home in Beach Haven West. He loved fishing, crabbing, and boating, but his real love was racing. He may have even been spotted as a kid drag racing and pulling his parachute on Westfield Avenue. He was also a huge Jets fan.
Karl was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Darla J. Kielbasa (nee: Costanzo) in 2018. He was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Kielbasa, father, Benjamin Kielbasa, and mother, Elizabeth Kielbasa (nee: Schubert). He is survived by his beloved daughters, Cindi Mago and husband Michael, and Nicole Gacsi and husband Michael and adored grandchildren, Ariana, Gabriella, Jakob, Vincent, Dominic, and Daniella. Karl was also survived by loving siblings, Laura Masterson and husband Michael, Benjamin Kielbasa, Susan Lammerding and husband Richard, sister-in-law Joanna Kielbasa, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In the words of his wedding song, “Fly, fly, fly high against the sky, So high I almost touch the sky, Thank you, thank you, Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.”
