Obituary for Lewis J. Giordino

Lewis Giordino passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, Roselle Park, on Friday, July 21, 2023. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am at St. Theresa R. C. Church, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, NJ. Cemetery will be private.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

Lou was born in Newark, NJ before moving to Kenilworth, NJ. His life was devoted to his family and the fire service. He began his career as a construction supervisor for the Vizzoni Brothers. He joined the Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter in 1975. He quickly climbed the ladder to the rank of Chief in 1981, becoming one of the youngest Chiefs in the state of NJ. He remained a dedicated Chief, Fire Official, and member until his untimely passing. In addition to his work with the Volunteer Fire Department, he was a police dispatcher for the Mountainside Police Department.

He was a member of the New Jersey Fireman’s Exempt and the Knights of Columbus Fr. McVeigh Council # 4186 of Kenilworth.

Lou is predeceased by his parents Carmen and Catherine Giordino. He is survived by his wife Susan (nee: Butler), daughter Rachel, son Carmen, sister Marianne and her husband John Salerno, niece Jenna and her husband Emilio Verde, nephew John Salerno and his wife Danielle, and great-nieces Milana and Mia.
