Obituary for Margaret L. "Peggy" Golden (Wilson)

Margaret (Peggy) Linda Golden, 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Peggy was born on May 21, 1925 and was the youngest of 5 children born to her parents, Mary (Day) and Samuel Wilson. Peggy grew up in Springfield, NJ and graduated from JDRHS in 1944 and was referred to as ‘Pretty Perky Peggy’ by her classmates. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph (Jay) F. Golden, Jr and the two quickly became known as Romeo and Juliet. Peggy entered Nursing School at Overlook Hospital after high school. The two were married in 1946 and remained together until Joseph passed away in 1994. Together with her husband Jay, they raised a family of five children. Peggy was a Homemaker and resident of Kenilworth, NJ for over 70 years. She was an active member of St. Theresa’s Rosary Alter Society and loved golfing, shopping, gardening, and watching movies and game shows. Her beloved family includes James Golden and his wife Dawn of Milford, NJ, John (Jackie) Golden (pre-deceased), Janet Gibbons and her husband Peter of Quebec Canada, Richard (Jay) Golden (pre-deceased) and his wife Dorothy of Choctaw, OK, and Jayne Golden and her partner Bill VanDerHorn of Seminole, FL. In addition to her five children, Peggy was survived by her six grandchildren: Jessica (Gibbons) and her husband Xavier Villemaire, Kelsey Golden, Taylor Gibbons, Joseph Golden and his wife Samantha, Kyle Golden and Matthew Golden and four great-grandchildren: Odin and Indie Golden and Henri and Felix Villemaire.
Visitation hours for Peggy will be held at Mastapeter Funeral Home in Roselle Park from 10am to noon on Wednesday, November 2nd with a service at noon. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kenilworth Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
