Obituary for Phyllis Proctor

Phyllis Proctor (Susterka) of Westfield, NJ peacefully passed away on April 1st, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ on February 17th, 1930 where she remained and raised her family. Graduating from Batin High School and starting her career in New York City at Socony-Vacuum Oil Company then moving on to Singer Sewing Machine Company and retiring from Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ.

Phyllis met her husband Howard Proctor, married in 1963 and then began their family. Phyllis was a devoted mother, homemaker raising 3 children and was deeply involved in St. Genevieve’s parish.

Phyllis spent her retirement as a loving grandmother, spending countless hours caring for her Grandchildren. Always remembered for her warmth and kindness, her nurturing spirit, strength and inspiration to those who were lucky to know her.

Phyllis is preceded by her Husband Howard Proctor, (Three brothers) Gerry, Kenneth, Alfred, and (sister) Genevieve Susterka. Phyllis is survived by her children- Paul Proctor, Howard Proctor, Jr, and Sharon Jayne (Husband Gary Jayne). Phyllis also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren-Lucas Jayne, Leah Jayne, Brandon Proctor and Dylan Proctor. Loved by many Nieces, Nephews, sisters-in-law, and friends.


Visitation will be on Friday 4 to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. Genevieve Church in Elizabeth at 9am. Please be at the funeral home 8am. Interment will follow to St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
