Obituary for Richard C. Danelson

Richard C. Danelson, 93, of Roselle Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 8:30am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park at 10am. Cemetery is private.

Visitation will be on Tuesday 3 to 7pm.

The family requests all are to wear a mask over the nose and mouth at all times inside the funeral home and will be enforced.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Richard moved to Roselle Park in 1959.

He served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Arkansas, USS LST 578, and USS LST 125 during WWII, receiving the American Theatre Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Richard was a supervisor at PSE&G in Newark for many years, retiring in 1986.

He coached Roselle Park Youth Baseball for many years and was an active supporter of Roselle Park High School sports programs. He loved sports. He was an avid bowler and loved playing golf and played up until this past fall. He was active in the Five Points YMCA until covid hit.

Richard was Catholic Man of the Year, Holy Name Society where he was Santa Claus, and an Usher for 50 years, and a Bingo Caller all at Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park.
He loved playing bingo and he played his last game on July 20, 2021.

Richard is predeceased by his dear parents Robert and Maude (nee: Smeldge) Danelson, and loving son-in-law George Greer.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 73 years Ann (nee: Poli) Danelson, two loving daughters Linda Greer, and Nancy Fullerton and her husband Ronald, 10 adored grandchildren Kelly, Brian, Colleen, Alex, Ronald, Heather, David, Brenna, Jennifer and Steve, 9 cherished great-grandchildren AJ, Nicholas, Skyler, Colin, Annika, Felix, Kayla, Joey, and Taylor.

Richard loved kidding around with everyone and especially loved being with his family.
