On Monday, April 27, 2020, Virginia A (Schneider) Ditzel, known as “Ginny”, loving wife, mother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 78 due to complications from COVID-19. Ginny was born in Newark, NJ on August 28, 1941 to Henry Schneider and Ethel (Murray) Schneider. She attended Saint Vincent’s Academy of Newark before attending Irvington High School. She married Edward A Ditzel of Irvington in 1957 and they raised 4 children, Virginia, Edward, Raymond, and Ronald.

Ginny had to overcome early setbacks in life, losing her mom at a very young age and then being predeceased by her two loving brothers and protectors, Ronald in 1962 and Henry, who was rendered a paraplegic in 1953 in the Korean War, in 1970. Ginny and Ed would move from Newark to Roselle Park in 1967 where they would spend the majority of their lives. Ginny’s outgoing nature and sense of humor led to many associations. She was a den mother in Cub Scout Pack #116 and volunteered as an EMT with the Roselle Park First Aid Squad. She was a real estate agent at Pisano Realty and achieved the “Million Dollar Sales Club” in 1985 and 1986. Later she worked as an agent at Rider Insurance in Union and in Springfield, NJ. She retired several years ago and recently moved to the Masonic Village in Burlington, NJ.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward A Ditzel of Burlington, NJ, her cousin and best-friend Sharon Smith of Roselle Park, NJ, her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Paul Malecki of Hillsborough, NJ, son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Lisa Ditzel of Flemington, NJ, son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Joyce Ditzel of Lincroft, NJ, son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Susan Ditzel of Roselle Park, NJ, 12 grandchildren (Marc Malecki, Elyse Malecki, Alex Malecki, Arielle Ditzel, Taylor Ditzel, Jordan Ditzel, Elizabeth Ditzel, Cole Ditzel, Abby Ditzel, Amelia Ditzel, Elsie Ditzel, and Evvie(Ditzel), and one great-grandchild (Patrick Ditzel).

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Boystown, The Shriner’s Hospital for Children, or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A memorial service will be planned when the COVID-19 quarantines are lifted.

Dear Elyse,

My deepest sympathy, words are words, actions speak louder I was taught that at age 25, by a 18 year old! I have not
seen you for 5 years, but as Elvis and Willie sing sometimes " your always " somehow " on my mind! " There was a
20 year old server whose tears I remember for a feather, a white one. Like for my girls I held her tight, telling her
Daddy's here, cry on my shoulder, get out of your system. That was Brit, when I needed to held before I left I reached
out for her! Friends are always there, when you least expect it. My woman died Dec16, 2017, another girl a day later,
ROSES at the Grotto at NDHS for cheerleaders, friends, classmates, fellow alumni. ROSES at her service, I lost more than a friend
I lost my therapist. She was a nurse! Keep smiling, keep the faith, and if you want to know something, QUESTION!
She is not gone, but a new avenue of being!
