Obituary for John B. "Jack" Simmonds

John “Jack” Simmonds, 78, of Roselle Park, NJ, passed away of Friday, January 9, 2015, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, surrounded by his loving family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation at the Liberty Baptist Church, 953 West Chestnut Street, Union, NJ, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in the church at 10am. Please meet at the church at 9am. Entombment will follow to Clover Leaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge, NJ.
Mr. Simmonds was born in Point Pleasant, NJ, and lived in Lakewood, NJ, before settling to Roselle Park, NJ 30 years ago.
He was an accountant for the Probation Department Child Support System in the City of Elizabeth for 24 years, retiring in 2010.
Mr. Simmonds served his country in the United States Navy during peacetime and was an avid musician, playing the drums for the Navy Band and the municipal band in Union, he also performed at many functions in Lakewood.
He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Union for 30 years and was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 399 AFM in Freehold, NJ.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, R. Barbara (Dowden) Simmonds; his three loving children, Kristen Simmonds, Jennifer Szyszkiewicz, and Robyn Lemanski and her husband Richard; two dear sisters Colleen Doyle and Sharon Crimmons; and his four cherished grandchildren Devin, Nicholas, Emily, and Joshua.
In lieu of flowers kindly make donations to the Liberty Baptist Church music program or the Roselle Park First Aid Squad in his memory.
