Joseph G.  Dante
Joseph G. Dante, 83, of Union, NJ and Berkeley Township Section of Bayville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2015.

Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 8:15am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Theresa R. C. Church in Kenilworth at 10am. Entombment will be at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm on Tuesday.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Joseph moved to Union, NJ over 55 years ago, then acquiring a second residence in Bayville, NJ in 1986.

He was the president of A. Dante and Sons, Inc., in Newark, NJ, all of his life with his father Angelo Dante until he passed away suddenly in 1965.

Joseph served his country in the United States National Guard during the Korean War.

He enjoyed taking his rides thru Newark every night, loved to travel by train, and spend the weekends at his shore house in Bayville to relax by the water listening to his Willie Nelson country music.

Joseph always worried and provided for his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and friends.

He was a kind quiet man who had a heart of gold and never said no to anyone. He also was known by his family as Sonny and Moe to his grandson Danny.

He was a parishioner of St. Theresa R. C. Church in Kenilworth and St. Barnabas R. C. Church in Bayville, also a member of the Berkeley Township Homeowners Association in Bayville, and a recipient from the City of Newark awarding him a certificate for the “Beautification of Newark”.

Joseph is predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Florence R. (Francis) Dante who passed away on June 16, 2014, and his cherished granddaughter Danielle Marie Dante.

Surviving are four loving children Joseph A. Dante and his wife Linda,an adored daughter Marigrace Mastapeter and her husband Arthur, David J. Dante and his wife Maria, and John M. Dante; dear brother of George A. Dante and Margherita Devone; proud uncle of George Dante and his wife Heidi and John Devone; adored great uncle of AnnMarie Dante; cherished gramps of Joseph, Daniel, David, Regina, George, Jessica, Samantha, Marissa, and John; and his caregiver Fran.

Also surviving are several cousins and many, many friends. Joseph touched the hearts of all who knew him and will never be forgotten.
