Obituary for Peter Michael Krill Jr.

PETER MICHAEL KRILL Jr, 68, of Hillside, passed away Wednesday, August 5th, with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on December 3, 1946 to the late Peter & Frances Krill, the third of six children. Peter joined the United States Navy in 1966 He married his true love Laurel Ann Krill (ńee Gross) on June 3, 1967. They lived in Naples, Italy for three years while Peter was stationed there in the Navy. When they returned home they briefly lived in Elizabeth, before moving to Hillside where they raised their family. Their marriage of nearly 47 years is the kind that seemed torn from a storybook. From teenage sweethearts to adoring grandparents and in between a life filled with love, friendship, laughter, music, and most importantly family. "Pop Pop" thoroughly enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

Pete most recently worked for the Township of Hillside where he was employed as a Code Enforcement Officer in the Building Department. He previously worked as a warehouse supervisor, a roofer, and a mechanic. Pete was also a Cub Scout Den Leader and Little League coach and umpire for many years.

Pete and Laurel performed music and sang for decades, founding the band “Time Machine” in the mid 80’s playing weddings, clubs, and benefits. More recently they performed at restaurants and lounges as the duo “Oldies For You”. Pete was a self taught musician and enjoyed bringing music and happiness into people’s lives. Pete was also an enthusiastic car collector and member of the Galloping Hill Cruisers.

Pete also served as a member of the Hillside Auxillary Police, where became Deputy Chief, as well as an instructor at the Union County Auxillary Police Academy.

Pete and Laurel were members of Christ the King Church in Hillside, before joining St. Theresa’s Church in Kenilworth, NJ.

Peter is predeceased by his loving wife Laurel Ann Krill (2014) and his parents Peter Krill & Frances Krill (née Czerwinski). He is survived by his sisters Deborah, Helen, Donna, and Carol, and his brother Michael; his loving children, Peter (III), Estelle, David, Nicole, Jeffrey, Katia, Sarah, and Peter (IV); his grandchildren Nicole, Kaylee, Taryn, and Milana, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will never forget Uncle Pete playing guitar and singing.

The Krill family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. We are overwhelmed but not surprised by the outpouring of well wishes, thoughts, and prayer that have come our way and continue to stream in from everyone who loved Dad.
