Obituary for Marilyn A. Belford (Driscoll)

Marilyn (nee: Driscoll) Belford, 81 of Roselle Park, New Jersey and Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, September 26, 2016; Two days short of her 82nd birthday. Her children invite family and friends to celebrate Marilyn’s life at the home of Jeanne and Pete Bonacci, 609 Elm St. Roselle Park on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 3pm to 7pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10am. A procession will follow to Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Marilyn lived in Union and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Academy in 1952. In 1965, she moved to Roselle Park, New Jersey with her husband, Joseph P. Belford, where they raised five children together. Marilyn was an active member of the Church of the Assumption’s Rosary Society and Bowling League. She worked at Castle Bootery in Westfield and was an officer of the Robert Gordon PTA for many years. In 1994, Marilyn and Joseph moved to Sarasota, Florida where they continued to enjoy bowling, golf, and hosting their friends and family in their southern home. Marilyn was a passionate supporter of the American Troops and U.S. Veterans. As a member of the USS Irwin DD 794 Women’s Auxiliary, she helped contribute to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Marilyn is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph P. Belford, her parents Helen and John Driscoll and great grandson Bennett. Surviving relatives to remember her are her children, Susan Belford and spouse Kelley, Nancy Cunningham and husband Gene, Jeanne Bonacci and husband Pete, Joseph Belford Jr. and wife Kim, Geri DeGennaro and husband Dave; cherished grandchildren, Amber and husband Jeff, Peter, Jacqueline and husband Mike, Samantha, Joseph III, Brian, Michael, Nicholas and Maxwell; adored great grandchildren, Isabella, Benjamin, Giulianna, and Evelyn.
