Obituary for Josephine "Joanne" Lanza (Picone)
Josephine “Joanne” Lanza, (nee: Picone), 74, of Kenilworth,NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, June 19, 2014, following a courageous years long battle with cancer.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 6 to 9pm, with a memorial service at 8pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, NJ.
Joanne was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Kenilworth, NJ.
For 20 years Joanne was the co-owner of Jon’s Hair Salon in Milburn. She retired in 2001 from the Honeywell Corp, where she worked in the accounts payable department at the Springfield location, and for the past 13 years, you could find her working part time at the Kenilworth A&P.
Joanne was a kind, generous and loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered for her quiet and easy manner, and the way she made us all laugh.
She is predeceased by her father William Picone.
Joanne is survived by her mother Carmela (Tripodi) Picone, her beloved children Natalie (Larry), and Jon Lanza, loving sister Susan Pazienza, William (Joyce), and Robert (Rosemary) Picone, many loving nieces and nephews and much adored great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorable contributions in Joanne’s name can be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave., Madison, NJ, 07940.
