Obituary for Jaroslava Balaban

Jaroslava Balaban, 89, of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, in Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ.
A Prayer Service will be offered at 10:30am on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave. Roselle Park, NJ 07204.
Born in Ternopil, Ukraine, Jaroslava came to the United States in 1950 and settled to Newark, NJ, before moving to Union 15 years ago.
She was a Medicare Clerk for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey in Newark for 37 years before retiring in 1989.
Jaroslava was a member of the Rosary Society of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, Ukrainian National Association in Parsippany, Ukrainian National Woman’s League of America Branch 86, a Girl Scout Leader in Germany, a victim of German Forced Labor Camps in Germany during World War II, and a member of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.
Surviving is a loving son Alexander J. Balaban and his wife Barbara, and two cherished grandchildren Bart and Kasia.
